Whenever I visit my children at their mum's house I have to sit down with them and listen to either 'Kerrang!' or 'Scuzz' on the telly. I don't mind this at all as I am a lover of rock and metal in most forms and the fact that my apples haven't fallen far from the tree is a cause of celebration in my eyes. However , it was during one such visit that I saw the video for a track entitled 'The Bird and the Worm' by The Used and was, frankly, gobsmacked. The Used are from Orem in Utah and were formed in January of 2001 although the band members had played in many previous versions of the group prior to the name change. They play in a very mixed style fusing ... Read the complete review

I have been a big fan of the used for a while now. What first attracted me to them was how unique they are, in their lyrics, concepts and style. So for those who don't know, Bert McCracken is the lead singer, Jeph Howard plays the bass guitar, Branden Steineckert plays the drums and is the back up vocals and Quinn Allman is the guitarist and back up vocals. Their album Lies for the Liars is my favourite so far. It came out in 2007 and every song is completely unique. The Ripper This song is not my favourite on the album. Although it does have some catchy lyrics it is not in the same league of the next song. Pretty Handsome ... Read the complete review

Note: Review for DVD + CD version of the album. |:|The Band|:| The Used originated from a four piece band from Utah that began in 1999 called Dumb Luck, the band started up with some of its current members but not all. Soon after this though the current lead singer joined the band and the changed their name to 'Used'. After making a few songs amongst themselves they sent some music to the Goldfinger frontman and he liked what he heard. They were called in for a demo and the rest, they say, is history. They went on to produce a self titled album which was a reasonable success but more on the underground and yet to hit the mainstream. The band's next ... Read the complete review

I am a big fan of the Used and in my opinion this is one of their best albums to date. This album is lighter than some of their earlier albums, with the songs sounding more pop/rock than screamo/rock. The album consists of eleven tracks, the best in my opinion being Pretty Handsome Awkward, Hospital and Liar Liar. However, the rest of the album is also amazing. Lies for the Liars is an album you can put on and play all the way through, instead of having to skip around the bad tracks. The Used write the majority of their own music and this means they have their own style which is carried through all of their music. The Used do not tour the Uk very often, however, ...
