Advantages: Dido sticks to what shes good at

Disadvantages: It can bea bit boring for people who want more rockier track

Dido does it again. Another lovely album. A well deserved number one. I'm just going to take you through the tracks.


1. White Flag

Many of you will haveheard this. It has had a lot of airtime on the radio. And with good reason. This is classic Dido. Dido at her best. It really grows on you after a while. It is a pleasure to listen to, and it is catchy. I really like the start, it has a haunting first beginning notes and then her gentle voice comes gliding gracefully into it. The lyrics are easy to understand, and interesting at the same time.

2. Stoned

I would say this was my favourite track. It is very full of attitude. I really like this track, its about a hardcore relationship involving drugs and alcohol that she is involved in. It actually feels like Dido isn't bothered about the person she is singing to's feelings, and she actually sounds alittle drunk in this, it as if is real, and Dido really means it. You can feel a bored personality coming through the song in the way Dido sings it. It's also really catchy, with a rocky beggining. This will almost definitely be a single, it has "single" written aaall over.

3. Life For Rent

The title track is very very good! It's actually her next single. I like the beggining. The vocals come in straight away and that is quite interesting. She also sings quite fast, and then she sings " It's just a thought " " Only a thought..." And then the music kicks in more, and its really cool. The chorus is so much more light hearted with a gentle guitar riff. And its quite catchy, and easy on the ears.

4. Mary In India

The lyrics to this sng are wonderful. It isnt catchy, bt its gentle, peaceful, andgood for backgrund music. Not much to say about this really!

5. See You When Your 40

At first, it sounds boring, but then the chorus comes in, andit really is a pleasure, almost mesmerisin,
the piano notes and the tune of Dido's voice are an odd mixture, but make a wonderful relaxing sound.

6. Don't Leave Home

This is lovely also! Nothing special, but is a lovely chorus. At first the chorus seems to lean towards slightly boring, but then goes higher and really is catchy, and full of gentle power. Great singing too.

7. Who Makes You Feel

This is fab. Another cracker. Dido exlores the ways he voice can go and makesher voice into a higwhisper, which is quite interesting. The tne is quite original, and her voice has a hint of attitude. It gives the impression that Dido is in control, and tere is nothing you can d about it.

8. Sand In My Shoes

The lyrics to this are great. This is quite similar to Dont Leave Home. It takes a while for Dido to start singing though. Very nice chorus, mildly catchy, and the beggining has Dido singing fast and the music kicks in after she starts singing. There is element of pleasure that you feel when she is building up to chorus. Its very good. You nee to hear it to undrstand wat I mean.

9. Do You Have A Little Time

Excellent also. The beggning starts with a string instrument, and again Dido uses her high whisper to create attitude. This is a modern song but with an old style chorus. It's slightly spooky in a way. It reminds me of those fancy balls that Cinderella would go to. Dunno why!!!

10. Land Is Mine

This should be the end track, it gives the impression that you are at the end of something. It is slightly sad in a way, but its ok that its sad. The chorus is quite sweet sounding.

11. See The Sun

I didn't like this much. In the middle of the track it has abot 3 minutes silence and then starts again. Although when I listened to it, it ws very relaxing and soothing is a good word. It doesn't surprise you when Dido starts singing again. It's almost as ifyou are expecting it, and its a lovely
gentle ending.
