Advantages: Just quite simply brilliant

Disadvantages: none atall

The first question we need to get sorted - is 'Liquid Skin' better than the bands debut album, Mercury Music Prise winner 'Bring it On'. I am going to say that, yes, ultimately it is. There are many reasons for this. The band have matured slightly on this album, on 'Bring it On' they seemed, young exciting, fresh new talent, which indeed they were. But on this album they seem way ahead of their youth, it seems like they are veterans of the music scene, like they have been around for ages. This is a very good thing, as this album is somewhat of a masterpiece.

It bursts straight into things with the song 'Hangover' then continues with 'Revolutionary Kind' and 'Bring it On'. Not letting you rest for one second. Finally, the song 'Blue moon Rising' slows the pace down a little, a beautiful tune. But the next song 'Las Vegas Dealer' demands your attention very much, now i cant put in words how good, exciting and vibrant this song is. It sounds like something i have never heard before in my life, the first time i heard it i was bopping away like mad, the button called repeat on my stereo was used, very often, look out for that song....

After a few songs you have realised that this album is something special, and the song 'We havent turned around' just emphasises that even more. A harmonious song. The best released single of 1999 by far. Its chart position was criminal, once again showing that in days when songs like 'Bob the builder' can get to number one, theres no place for quality in the music charts.

Just when you think things cant get much better along comes the last track on the album, 'Devil will Ride'. Possibily the best song on the actual album, well between that and 'Las Vegas Dealer'. Its a perfect song to close with, it quite literally takes your breath away, using one instrument from the next, each vocal different. A very fresh and differ
ent song indeed.

So there it is, one of the greatest albums of the 90's. Better than its older brother 'Bring it On', and quite brilliant, moving and truly original.

If you havent already got this, then why not? Worth any amount of money.
