Well having got hold of this album before it was released I guess I have a head start on getting used to mansun's new sound. Yes, the chester mob have changed their image again, and moved from lush orchestral musings, to schizophrenic operatic rock, to carefully produced slices of pop. When I say carefully produced slices of pop, Im talking about the addictive hooklines of Fool, We are the Boys and Electric Man. In fact, Electric Man will no doubt have the whole country humming along to the sound that is Mansun. Although the hardcore fans may scoff at this simplistic, almost un-Mansun like song; they remain elclectic and prove that they can write hook lines as well ... Read the complete review

Mansun - Little Kix If Morrissey would have said "Chester, so much to answer for" rather than Manchester then its a dead cert he would either be talking about Hollyoaks or Mansun. And it quite possible that Morrisseys a fan of Mansun after all they aspire to be what Bowie was to his generation. In a world of chancers playing at being rock stars there are very few people that are the real deal, Mansun with a touch of make up and a lot of style fit into the same category as Suede and Placebo as the could have beens, the 1st Division that can't quite make it into the Premier. After the classic album "Six" it was difficult to know which ... Read the complete review

Little kix is an awsome album that really showcases the song writing, singing and instrumental abilities of Mansun. Just about every song on this album is of the highest quality. None of the tracks are poor, which is quite a rare thing to get on any album. Mansun often lack publicity, but a lot of the songs on this album deserve to do well in the charts. Many of the tracks are quite emotional. All tracks are well produced and orchestrated. The final track is live, but Paul Draper sings so well that it makes no difference. You have to hear it for yourself. Now! About the tracks: 1 - Butterfly (a new beginning) I ... Read the complete review

Well if this isn't the sexiest, most uplifting and just plain funky album I've heard in a long time then you can paint me pink and call me Fiona. The single I Can Only Disappoint U is probably one of the most beautiful singles released in the past few years, and is easily the best song on the album, although that doesn't mean the other tracks aren't that good. The guitar playing and arrangements are both awesome and as always Paul Draper's voice is what gives the tracks their uniqueness. Would probably be album of the year, were Radiohead not set to release Kid A in October... ... Read the complete review

Mansun make a welcome return with their third album "little Kix", so is it better than "grey lantern" or "six"?. Well the short answer is no, but it is a damn fine album and still one of the year's best releases. The cd starts off with a long passage of silence before the first track "butterfly (a new begining)" slowly fades in and what a great song to start with. Next is first single "I can only disappoint u" which was criminally ignored by the major radio station's. Then follows three gems in a row "comes as no suprise" which will really test Paul Draper's voice in a live situation, the ... Read the complete review
