There is an interesting section in the middle where the guitar become quiet and Bruce gets the crowd’s hands going, and his awe at the size of the place is quite apparent. The crowd’s solo vocals don’t work too well, but Bruce’s instruction for Janick to perform his solo, “get your engines going,” is quite a classic moment, if strange. There’s some banter at the end in which Bruce comments on how long the day has been and how it’s going to get even longer, before the band count i...more

Crowned Review Live At Donington - Iron Maiden: End of an Era (3038 words)
by - written on 23/06/04 (Very useful, 157 readings)
Rating:

In 1993, the rumours were effectively confirmed that vocalist Bruce Dickinson would be leaving Iron Maiden to pursue family interests and a solo career, and there were concerns over whether the band’s scheduled headlining date at the Donington Monsters of Rock festival (something no longer held) would still go ahead. The band did not disappoint their loyal fans and Bruce was happy to see his Iron Maiden career end on a high note with this one-off concert following the ‘Fear of the Dark’ tour. Originally only available as a bootleg, this has since been officially released as a double-CD live album. URBAN MYTHS & GENUINE FLAWS ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Maiden - Live! (189 words)

Rating:

I was expecting a lot from this CD when I bought it. 2 CD's worth of the Maiden boys live at The Monsters Of Rock Festival 1992. The classic line up with "Booming" Bruce Dickinson on vocals. I have to say, I wasn't disappointed. The sound quality and the songs themselves are excellent. All the Maiden classics are here - "Number Of The Beast", "Running Free", " The Trooper", Hallowed Be Thy Name"..... the list goes on & on. With Steve Harris' bass pumping away & Nicko McBrain (great name!) pounding away on the drums, the action is relentless. The version I have also has a multimedia section which ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Live At Donington - Iron Maiden: Maiden, In England and at their best! (335 words)
by - written on 22/10/00 (Very useful, 71 readings)
Rating:

Monsters of Rock, Donnington Park, pouring with rain, starving, had enough, tired out, but in no way was i leaving. Yes, i was there, waiting patiently, soaked to the skin. That day saw some brilliant bands. But the best was yet to come. Iron Maiden! Headlining where they belonged. As this double, digitally remastered cd captures perfectly, it was a show worth waiting for. The classics were all there in attendance, Run To The Hills, Number Of The Beast, Rime Of The Ancient Mariner, etc. But best of all, although you get to hear it, you need the video to see it, the return of Adrian Smith for Hallowed Be Thy Name. A taste of what was to ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Iron Maiden are the original Monsters of Rock! (324 words)

Monsters of Rock, an event no longer hosted, was a date that any metal fan kept in his diary! Its 1992, Donington castle. A British venue and for once a British headlining band, after all you can't get more British than the Maiden boys. Maiden were supported by acts like Pantera and on the night the awesome Skid Row (another band that has sadly departed us) led by charismatic frontman Seb Bach (Incidentally he did a rendition of 'Children of the Damned' that night, if you've heard it tell me what you though - it rocked!). Maiden took the stage and fired out the classics; The Trooper, Run to the Hills, The Evil than men do, ...  Read the complete review

Products similar to Live At Donington - Iron Maide...

A couple of very good tracks, but these are included elsewhere (live compilations, etc.), Maiden have retreated from the dark place of the previous album The tracks are not very inventive and most are far too longBlaze's vocals don't suit the songs as much as on the previous albumThe production is a little cheap, and the label drop obviously caused the band more disillusionment

Very well chosen and appropriate, Excellent remastering, Very long and value for money at 80 minutes Some things not to my taste

A couple of big tracks No big single
