... and some slightly lesser-known offerings that wouldn't appear on some later live releases, particularly 'Killing Yourself to Live' which is the only representation of the 'Sabbath Bloody Sabbath' (despite being one of its weaker tracks - there I go again). This marks the recording out nicely as a record of a distinct period in the band's early history, which can be contrasted with the entirely nostalgia-based performances of today that expressly favour the most famous ten or so songs with little variation, whil...more

Premium Review Live At Last - Black Sabbath: I'm Trying to Save Your Brain (694 words)

Rating:

'Live At Last' was the long-awaited live album from Black Sabbath, which unfortunately had a fairly controversial background by being completely unofficial, despite receiving a mainstream release. This evidently angered the band's management and was likely a key factor in releasing an official answering-back in the form of 'Live Evil' two years later, but fortunately for the contemporary fans who didn't mind giving some cash to an unlicensed product, this earlier release remained appealing and different for being recorded back in the Ozzy Osbourne years, when the band was arguably at its peak (and certainly its most popular). It's a damn sight better than a bootleg ...  Read the complete review

If you like Black Sabbath, you've probably been to the Ozzfest, seen Sabbath or Ozzy in concert, or maybe you were at the Last Supper gig at the end of the last century. Whichever that may be, don't expect to hear the modern Sabbath here: what you'll hear is vintage 1973 Sabbath, at the height of their powers, still refining the material for "Black Sabbath Volume 4". Many favourites are in tow: "Paranoid", "Sweet Leaf" and "War Pigs", all of which are still regulars in both Sabbath and Ozzy sets today, along with (at the time) new material such as "Laguna Sunrise", "Cornucopia" and a ...  Read the complete review

Black Sabbath at the Ozzfest in the Milton Keynes Bowl this year was great, the playing by Tony Iommi was amazing, Sabbath pulled the biggest crowd of the day as loads of people came down from round the bowl to stand in the middle in front of the stage, it was an fantastic site to be on the hill when there were so many people down from you waving there arms and cheering. Ozzy was on top form for the night and sounded great, the set was impressively ended by a huge amount of shiny bits of paper being showed on the crowed and a very good fireworks display. ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Greatest Concert of all Time (220 words)

I am writing this opinion in Homage of black Sabbath and their concert I saw in 1991. I seriously doubt anyone needs a concert review of a Black Sabbath Show in 1991 in Toledo Ohio but being that there was a category for this and no opinions I felt compelled to make one up. It was a great show, Anthraxx opening up and Skew Siskin too. The lineup was Dio, Iommi, Butler and I believe Aisnley Dunbar was on the skins. They played all the tunes off the dehumanizer album and tehn all the requisite songs in their repetoire but they cheated me out of Children of the Sea and Heaven and Hell. Unfortunately I think they did not really have their hearts in performing. I ...  Read the complete review

Fun beats, differnt to anything else out there will offend some people

Back on form, Classic tracks in front of a 250,000-strong crowd, Also available on DVD Three guitarists is a little crowded sometimesDoesn't represent some of the best materialLong song groupings get tedious

One of the best albums from possibly the most influential band of all time Some of it sounds dated

Some more great epics and slow rockers. Far too similar to 'Heaven and Hell,' and not as good.

Landmark heavy metal album, excellent musicianship from all band members, classic songs Short and somewhat repetitive

Lots of bangers Nothing specific
