Brian's vocals here are generally good and he's almost always dead on key, but they work better on some tracks than others. His range is limited and he no longer handles those soaring falsettos. What a crying shame we all have to get old! The show gets underway with The Little girl I Once Knew. This is possibly a curious choice as an opener because it's never had ...more

Rating:

After the death of Carl Wilson in 1998 there were officially no Wilson's in the band touring as The Beach Boys. Not being able to face hooking up with his old colleagues Brian Wilson assembled what many consider to be the finest band on the touring circuit because as he said "Someone's got to go out there and play the music properly." What seemed impossible at one time came true and we had Brian Wilson back on stage. Nine years later he's still on the road and maybe we now take it for granted, but this was a huge deal back then. This live CD was the documentation of a concert at the famed Roxy Theatre, California. In front of a very ...  Read the complete review

Massively melodious vocal work, incredible instrumental power. I fail to think of any.

Less showy. Indecipherable vocals.

Very consistent album, unique and lovely vocals throughout A couple of songs don't excite, her unique style won't be for everyone!

A gentle and relaxing tempo achieved, perfect background music Very boring and lifeless in places, easy to miss songs

Intense jazz-rock-metal-prog-fusion, a CD to drink with caution Will sound like a complete mess on the first listen

Original Pretty much average throughout

Daudi Baldrs - Burzum
Some nice ideas, would make a fair (early) video game soundtrack. Incomplete ideas is all that they are.

Burzum - Burzum
Highly enjoyable black metal from a supremely talented one-man-band. Low production values and shrieking vocals will put off casual listeners.

Amputechture - The Mars Volta
Fuses rock, metal, jazz and latin music into eight songs of breath-taking madness Requires work. Not for the musically faint hearted.

The Cool - Lupe Fiasco
A couple of good tunes No big single. Lots of poor tracks
