The crowd cheers as the opening distorted voices from "One Vision" slowly fade up. When the strings kick in with their familiar sound, the cheers grow suddenly louder and the intro continues as the bass drum is introduced. Finally, one minute and fourteen seconds into the first track, Brian May's guitar powers through the chords and the rest of the band enter the fray. It's audio theatre at its finest and something at which Queen excelled. "Live at Wembley '86" arguably captures the band at the pinnacle of their career. Nearly a year previously, they were the standout act at Live Aid and had just released their two most successful ... Read the complete review

It was New Years Eve 1975 my daughter was 18 months old and I had had been a single mum for just six months. I was only 23 at the time and my life was on hold but as I sat with a group of friends watching the television I was about to become a lifelong fan of the group “Queen”. I sat spellbound as the now familiar strains of “Bohemian Rhapsody” started gently rose to a crescendo introduced a staggering few minutes of superb rock and then rose to the heights of a musical extravaganza ending with a sublime finale. Where had this group sprung from? I had been out of circulation for a few years so had missed the debut of Queen although they were then a small band that ... Read the complete review

At first glance, this looks like an album that provides great value for money. Unfortunately though that is not the case for those who own previous albums from the band. Although the Wembley gig in '86 was awesome and it's great to have something for those who attended to remember it by - a double disc album including nearly 30 tracks is a bit over the top given the limited number of people who have a direct link to the concert in question. Because so many of these songs are fast-paced and energetic, the live performance of them is very scattered and puffy throughout. The trouble is that I can't really enjoy this album because I see it as a bit of a ... Read the complete review

Queen live at Wembley 86 was recorded on the second sold out date at the stadium. This was meant to be the last date on the "Magic" tour but due to the success of the 2 sold out dates at Wembley they scheduled 1 more date and Hertfordshire's Knebworth House. The tour was in support of there new album "A kind of Magic". Sadly this was the last tour Queen undertook with there amazing front man Freddie Mercury. Now the CD. Live at Wembley captures Queen in there Finest hour. Freddie was at his peak as a showman and as a vocalist. Along with the superb drumming of Roger Taylor and the back up base of John Deacon. Not forgetting the Axe work of ... Read the complete review

Freddie Mercury may no longer be with us but his spirit lives on in this live recording from Queen's gig at Wembley Stadium. Freedie was without doubt, "the" entertainer, and his performances live (so I'm told) were simply breathtaking. He was born to entertain, and somehow this fact comes across on this double CD. The feeling behind his voice is clear as he belts out Queen favourites such as "We Are The Champions", "We Will Rock You", "I Want to Break Free", the list is almost endless. Every track is a Queen classic and one you'll want to hear again and again. I really wish I was older so I ... Read the complete review
