The Very Best Of The Jam - The Jam

Premium Review God damn the Jam (748 words)
by Joe1976 - written on 17/06/08 (Very useful, 51 readings)
Rating:

Paul Weller vowed when he split from The Jam in 82 he would never play with Buckler and Foxton again, why?, I have no idea, maybe the strain of living in each others pockets for 10 years can do this to a person, especially someone as moody as Weller. It s no secret the band had started to fall apart at the seams when Weller started feeling the pressure of "living in a fishbowl" as he put it. I m a great believer to have loved and lost, than never to have loved at all. And so am very happy that we even had a "Jam" to begin with, Weller s song writing skills are some of the most well observed by any song writer, for him to have written "That s ...

All Mod Cons - The Jam

Premium Review A genuine classic with a few extras (1015 words)
by Allmodcons - written on 27/11/06 (Very useful, 396 readings)
Rating:

This review is of the remastered deluxe edition with bonus DVD - a great addition for The Jam fan s collection. The original album stands on it s own merits as one of the pivotal works of the post punk/new wave movement, with power, belief and well crafted songs, coming together and defining for the first time The Jam sound. It was viewed at the time as a make or break album for the band following a critical response to their second album. All Mod Cons opens with a searing comment on the music scene of the day with the title track, an honest commentary on the hangers on and false cheerleaders that exploit young artists naivety and then fail to support them in tougher ...

All Mod Cons - The Jam

Crowned Review JAM (2200 words)
by Zmugzy - written on 18/04/06 (Very useful, 468 readings)
Rating:

Jam song: "Down in The Tube Station at Midnight". What first led me to write this review was hearing one of the tracks from the album on Radio two recently, The Jam s version of "David Watts" (originally recorded by the Kinks). It was the first time I had never heard it on the radio. I think it was a minor hit for the Jam in 1978 and was released before the album. All Mod Cons was The Jam s third album and the first to make the top ten. It was considered a demarcation point from their earlier associations with Punk Rock. The Jam were never really a Punk band but there was a period when they were kind of categorised by the press as belonging to the ...
