The Very Best Of The Jam - The Jam
by Joe1976 - written on 17/06/08 (Very useful, 51 readings)

Paul Weller vowed when he split from The Jam in 82 he would never play with Buckler and Foxton again, why?, I have no idea, maybe the strain of living in each others pockets for 10 years can do this to a person, especially someone as moody as Weller. It s no secret the band had started to fall apart at the seams when Weller started feeling the pressure of "living in a fishbowl" as he put it. I m a great believer to have loved and lost, than never to have loved at all. Jam song: "Down in The Tube Station at Midnight". What first led me to write this review was hearing one of the tracks from the album on Radio two recently, The Jam s version of "David Watts" (originally recorded by the Kinks). It was the first time I had never heard it on the radio. I think it was a minor hit for the Jam in 1978 and was released before the album. All Mod Cons was The Jam s third album and the first to make the top ten. It was considered a demarcation point from their earlier associations with Punk Rock. The Jam were never really a Punk band but there was a period when they were kind of categorised by the press as belonging to the ...
