Live Killers by Queen is a must have for any rock and roll fans with a nostalgic view towards the late 70s (those days rocked ha!). Equally this is a great album to be enjoyed by young music lovers interested to know a bit how concerts were thirty years ago. My daughter really likes this for one thing and she wasn't even born when the tour this album was recorded on took place. I know the album was made in 1979 and internet resources lead me to conclude that it was from the tour the band made having released their "Jazz" album.
A lot of the very best early songs are on this album. "Killer Queen" is a favourite with many of the band's fans, including me, having been taken off their 1974 Sheer Heart Attack album. On the rockier side of things there are tracks like We Will Rock You, Now I'm Here, Keep Yourself Alive, Tie Your Mother Down (we thought we were rebels lol) and We Are The Champions. A great range for fans who like to sing along to anthems or get caught up in a rocky beat full of guitar riffs and crashing percussion sections.
On the softer side of things there are tracks like "Spread Your Wings" and "Dreamer's Ball" which aren't songs I'd rave about but can't be knocked at the same token. I secretly think "Spread Your Wings" is quite uplifting actually!
Although this was all recorded live, it's been well produced despite the early technological restrictions that obviously go hand in hand with such an early live recording. The modern CD versions of the album have been touched up anyway to give you a great listening experience. The live touch really gives this edge as you get swept along with the crowd's enthusiasm as well as the band and audience interaction.
A great buy by any Rock and Roll fan who enjoys a good concert.
