Advantages: excellent performance, shows the pure raw talents of some of the UKs top artists
Disadvantages: some weaker tracks and some covers that dont work for me
Radio 1 live in your lounge
I have to admit I have been waiting in anticipation for the release of a live lounge CD for a number of years. My mornings are often much happier after hearing the Jo Whiley show, partly for her sexy voice (unfortunatly not featured on the CD) and for the amazing live lounge sessions.
For those of you that dont listen to radio 1 mid-morning during the week, Jo Whiley often invites artists into the studio for a chat and to perform a few tracks. These are often stripped down accoustic versions of thier most famous songs and an inpromptu cover which can range from the sublimly beautiful to the hilariously funny.
This CD compramises the best performances from the last couple of years and there should be something for everybody on this list. The songs range from moving acoustic versions of artists well known hits (KT tunstall other side of the world and coldplays the scientist) as well as numerous covers. I Have included a track listing to help you pick out your own favourites

For me this CD really comes alive with the cover versions, there are so many amazing songs here from artists that i would not usually care about. Lemar's version of I beleive in a thing called love is fantastic, he strips the lyrics down to its core and gives a vocal performance that makes the song far more soulful and meaningful than the darkness ever managed. Other highlights for me include Jamilea's version of linkin' Parks Numb, which is my personal favourite and the hilarious rendition of "Love machine" my the arctic monkeys (you will be laughing as much as they were while trying to perform it ).
Overall this CD is a unique mixture of Britains best music talent doing what they do best and fooling around at the same time. There are no manufactured, miming, acts here and the quality of each performance can not be ignored. There are a few weaker tracks in my opinion (milo, 50 cents) but I dont want to criticise them. I dont like them purely down to my more indie preference of music rather than anything specific to these artists.
Go out and buy this CD, either treat yourself or somone else
Summary: ONE excellent LIVE CD
