Advantages: Interesting live version not available elsewhere
Disadvantages: Some songs are be better than others
I have just revisted this album after buying the third version. I had forgotten a lot of the tracks on here so it was nice to come back to it. A bit like sitting down and having a coffee with an old friend.
It contains a good mix of artists doing their own tracks in an acoustic version and some artists carrying out a cover version. These coverversion are usually very unique and I must say that this is the part of the album I really enjoy. There is always something special about hearing a track that you like (or even one you don't) sung in a totally different way.
I wasn't sure if I would like the Kooks version of Crazy as it is one track that I absolutely love - even now, but it is great - to hear it sung acoustically really works for me.
Other highlights must be Jamie Cullum's covering Frontin' another track that is so different to the original and Jamelia's Numb - how can someone like Jamelia get such power into her voice. I would never have listen to any of her songs before but this gave me a taster to go and listen to some of the tracks on her album.
I don't think that there is bad track on this album - though I would say that some of the artists are more well known than others definitely well worth a listen
Summary: Really good listen, see artists in a whole new light

- 27/01/09 I am by no means an expert on reviewing CDs but I would have liked to see at least a track list. |
