A live album without 2 of your biggest hits? (Alive and Jeremy). A risky move, but a typical one from a band known for not toeing the party line, preferring to do things their own way. After 5 albums, the first Pearl Jam live album started their later trend for releasing all shows as complete official bootleg recordings, but this release comprises songs from different shows on the 98/99 tour. What we get instead is cracking versions of songs that were good but not great in the studio (Corduroy, Betterman, Nothingman), a new song (the beautiful 'Untitled') and a fantastic cover of Neil Young's 'F*ckin Up' to close. The first official live album to be released by Pearl Jam is long over due. Five studio albums behind them may not seem odd, but you have to consider that they have one they the best live reputations on earth. The album consists of seventeen songs picked from across their whole back catalogue, a cover and a new one too. Its not one complete show, but songs picked out from across the whole 98/99 US tour. Unfortunately the title is a bad play on words of an old Queen song. (Can’t remember the title exactly) What you don’t get here “Alive” or “Jeremy”, this is a shame as they are probably the most well known songs ... Read the complete review
