One of the best live bands on the planet showcase their talents (Live On Two Legs - Pearl Jam)
Member Name: mrjoegoodwin
Advantages: F*ckin up, Betterman, Corduroy, Nothingman Disadvantages: No Alive, no Jeremy A live album without 2 of your biggest hits? (Alive and Jeremy). A risky move, but a typical one from a band known for not toeing the party line, preferring to do things their own way. After 5 albums, the first Pearl Jam live album started their later trend for releasing all shows as complete official bootleg recordings, but this release comprises songs from different shows on the 98/99 tour. What we get instead is cracking versions of songs that were good but not great in the studio (Corduroy, Betterman, Nothingman), a new song (the beautiful 'Untitled') and a fantastic cover of Neil Young's 'F*ckin Up' to close. There's nothing here to convert non-fans, but 'Live on Two Legs' is worth it for me for the excellent version of 'Given to Fly' alone, capturing Jack Irons' drum beat perfectly before it was slightly butchered when Matt Cameron took up stick duty. A perfect taster to pick up before the band's European tour in August 2009. Summary: Does what it says on the tin |
