Superb debut (Lost Souls - Doves)
Member Name: Dr_Evil
Advantages: Some superb tracks Disadvantages: Will struggle to live up to expectations of the music critics
Lost Souls is the superb debut album by Doves that was nominated for the 2000 Mercury Music Prize. Although Doves lost out to Badly Drawn Boy in the end, Lost Souls is a superb album and one of the most assured debut albums that I have heard for quite a long time. Doves were formerly a dance act known as Sub Sub who released the hit 'Aint No Love' a few years ago, but now they are a rock band who have been compared to Radiohead amongst others. I bought the album after hearing the superb song 'The Ceder Room' on the radio and although I think this is by far the best song there are a number of other superb tracks such as 'Sea Song' and the more upbeat 'Catch the Sun' which make this album well worth the investment.
