Advantages: Excellent from start to finish, the album features eleven incredible rock tracks.
Disadvantages: Some may be disappointed that the band here moved away from its emo sound of old.
'Louder Now' is the first major label release from Taking Back Sunday, an eleven track album of alternative rock excellence. When the band first emerged on the scene in 2002 with the debut album 'Tell All Your Friends', Taking Back Sunday was very much an emo band; over the years the bands sound has evolved however and with this release the band showcased a more mature sound than ever before. This album comprises of some of the bands best work, whereas in the past the bands albums had always been fairly inconsistent; 'Louder Now' is fantastic from start to finish and always here the music of Taking Back Sunday is greatly impressive. The album was released through Warner Bros. Records in 2006 and is the bands third studio release; a fantastic third album of music it is from the band too.
'What's It Feel Like to Be a Ghost' provides this album with the most brilliant of starts, this is one of my favourite tracks from this album in fact and always here the music of Taking Back Sunday is highly impressive. The chorus to this track is absolutely excellent, there's also a driving guitar riff through the very heart of this one which is very well put across by the band indeed. The vocals come howling out of the mouth of Adam Lazzara here, the chorus is belted out by the man and right from the offset here the music created with this 'What's It Feel Like to Be a Ghost' track is hugely impressive.
From the fantastic first track of this album the band pushes on and 'Liar (It Takes One To Know One)' is another definite highlight from this 'Louder Now' release. It's not as powerful as the opening anthem, still an incredibly well put across piece of rock music however and one that I personally thoroughly enjoy listening to. Once more the chorus is blasted out, the vocal performance is incredibly heartfelt here and you can tell that the bands lead vocalist Adam Lazzara is really putting his all into this one.
Tracks such as 'MakeDamnSure', 'Twenty-Twenty Surgery', and 'Error: Operator' are other personal favourites of mine from this release, never does the music present on this album disappoint but these tracks most definitely are my favourite of the lot. The first time I listened to this album I was really rather stunned, never before had I heard such a strong album from Taking Back Sunday and this 'Louder Now' release made me look at Taking Back Sunday in a whole new light. I'd always seen Taking Back Sunday as a fairly average emo band, this album from them is absolutely excellent however and with this eleven track release Taking Back Sunday really proved itself to be a highly impressive rock act. 'Error: Operator' is actually the track that appeals to me most of all from this album, it's the pen-ultimate track on this 'Louder Now' release and it would seem that the band was here saving its very best until last. This is such a fine rock track, it provides for an incredible three minutes of music and always here the Taking Back Sunday sound is absolutely magnificent.
This 2006 album release from Taking Back Sunday is most definitely one that is well worth investing in, it's an exquisitely fine album of music from the band and for those that love their rock music then this album should most definitely be of great appeal. At 45 minutes and 38 seconds in length, the music of Taking Back Sunday remains excellent throughout the entire duration of this album and never does the sound created by the band fail to impress here. 'Louder Now' is an excellent alternative rock release from Taking Back Sunday, the best album of the bands career in my opinion and the one that I personally derived the most enjoyment and musical satisfaction from listening to. Definitely give this album a go, don't however expect the emo sound of old to protrude through here with this 'Louder Now' album from Taking Back Sunday. This is a fine eleven track album of music, not one of these eleven tracks disappoints and always here the music of Taking Back Sunday has much to offer.
Summary: 'Louder Now' is the best album Taking Back Sunday has ever released as a band; well worth a listen.

- 26/06/08 I'm certain I'd hate their older stuff. But this sounds almost, dare I say it, damn good. |
