A friend who introduced me to the album "Love in the time of science" claimed that Emiliana Torrini was the new, hipper and more credible version of that Icelandic popstrel Bjork. I'm not a fan of Bjork - in fact I find her voice rather irritating but I can't knock her because there is no doubt she is talented. However, my friend was right. Emiliana is the new improved model. Despite her name suggesting otherwise, Emiliana is herself Icelandic and no doubt drew on Bjork for a source of inspiration when writing this album. She is very big in Europe but her debut release has been virtually unnoticed in the UK - a shame in fact ...
