I bought the Love Never Dies CD soundtrack immediately after seeing the show in London's West End. I really enjoyed the show and felt that buying the soundtrack would enable me to become more familiar with the music as I plan to see the show again at a later date.
The double CD features all of the music from the show and the songs are sung by the original cast of the musical. Of particular note are the production leads, Ramin Karimloo and Sierra Bogges, who are fabulous.
***The Order of the Track Listings***

***What do I think about the music?***
Its very different from Phantom of the Opera in as much as the music does not have the same dramatic show-stopping element to it as was evident in Phantom. The music in Love Never Dies is very much more low key and its true that the recurrent musical themes are much harder to identify when compared to Phantom. However, I think once I tried to stop comparing the music to Phantom I was able to appreciate the music and songs as entities in their own right.
Some of the lyrics are a little awkward and do not flow perfectly - in particular I found this with all of the songs sung by Madame Giry. However, the songs which I'm sure will become legendary (namely Love Never Dies, Devil Take the Hindmost, Look With Your Heart and Beneath A Moonless Sky) are beautiful and memorable - and performed wonderfully by the artists.
***Would I recommend it?***
Yes.....but see the show first! I'm not too sure how it rate as a stand alone album as I think the reason I liked it so much was because it retold the story that I loved so much in the stage production.
The Love Never Dies cd is the soundtrack for Andrew Lloyd Webber's sequel to the epic Phantom of the Opera which has recently come out in the West End. It is set 10 years after the end of Phantom of the Opera and is set in the fairgrounds of Coney Island, in New York.
I listened to the cd a few times before seeing the musical which I saw this weekend. I would recommend that you don't listen to the cd first if you are planning to see the show and don't want to know the story line. Because of it is a sung through musical you find out everything that happens.
There are 2 cds in the set, one for each half of the show.
Having said that, the music and the cd itself are good. The music does sound very like a Lloyd Webber musical - there are recurring themes throughout the show and the music builds up to significant songs. The songs can sound a bit 'samey' if you haven't seen the show and are just listening to it on the cd. However, if you enjoy ballads and love songs then you will like the songs on this. He only uses a few key phrases from the original Phantom of the Opera to tie the two musicals together, rather than repeating great chunks of it.
The main two ballads are "Til I Hear You Sing" (sung by by Ramin Karimloo, who plays The Phantom) and "Love Never Dies" (performed by Sierra Boggess as Christine Daae). Andrew Lloyd Webber fans will recognise the tune of Love Never Dies from his musical A Beautiful Game. It was a tune he originally wanted when had the idea for a sequel to Phantom, but as that did not seem to be going anywhere he then put it in A Beautiful Game.
All the singers on the cd (the original West End cast) are excellent and are great to listen to. Sierra Boggess who plays Christine is even better live! I would recommend seeing the musical and then buying the cd to listen to.
