The series of psychedelic music from around the world called Love, Peace and Poetry has both impressed me and disappointed at different times. They go out of their way to find obscure tracks, in the case of obscure countries or continents with small psychedelic scenes - Africa and Peru for example, I found that some of the songs weren't really what I was expecting and the talent (in the latter) was to be questioned at times.
When it comes to the UK version of this album, I found that the bands were rare and wildly different but the US compilation is the one that has an amazing mixture of quality bands.
There are so many albums that collect "nuggets" of psychedelic US bands from the 60s, this one varies a little in era but managed to amaze me by really being able to show the depth in excellent music of the time in the US by compiling an album filled with psychedelic tracks, many of which are extremely catchy - others which will have you tapping your foot and wanting to get up to rock out to the weird and wondrous fuzzy noises coming out of the speakers.
The thing is, I hadn't heard of any of these tracks and anyone with other collection of Psychedelic nuggets will not be comprimised as it's all material that is unlikely to turn up elsewhere but at the same time Love, Peace and Poetry are by no means scraping the barrell with this fine collection of groovy hits.
