My review of The 'Love' Album (Beatles) - by an experienced guitarist, and fan! Love -is not actually a Beatles Album as such; it's a reworking of Beatles songs by Beatles producer George Martin and son his Giles, originally conceptualised for a Cirque de Soleil's show in Las Vegas... Love The Beatles? Love this! "Love" is a masterpiece, The Beatles endless classics have been reworked by Sir George Martin "the fifth Beatle" and Giles Martin, his son. First off a little background. This album is the soundtrack to a musical performed in Las Vegas, and, with the exception of the strings in While My Guitar Gently Weeps, is made entirely of songs by The Beatles, remixed and stuck together to make what is nearly a continuous album. For me this way my first Beatles album, and having now got them all I can say I think its the best one to get first. Being a compilation album you get a taste of many of their most famous songs, even if the tracklist leans slightly towards songs from later in their career. This is a strange album for any die hard Beatles' fan, but it is where i started and where i would urge anyone else to do the same. Some of the tracks a mixes of the originals with parts from other songs, whereas some are simply unreleased version mixed into the originals, all in all a strange offering. I mean this is a good album for those who have never really got into the Beatles and shows off their creativity and provides some of their greatest hits in furios and altered styles.
