Advantages: Good mellow songs

Disadvantages: None

Most people only know The Rembrandts as the band that did the theme song from television show Friends, and I admit I was the same. After buying their album L.P. on the strength of this, I realised that they were a lot better than I thought.

The album consists of fifteen songs, of which I'll Be There For You is probably the odd one out. The others are not as fast and dancey as this, and are more acoustic based. This is no bad thing, however, as the songs are excellently written and performed. The weakest song is probably This House Is Not A Home. This was the wrong choice for their next single release, but then it is always hard to follow up an international smash such as I'll Be There…

Stand-out tracks are What Will It Take, and The Other Side Of Night, which is a wonderful ballad dedicated to the father of band member Phil Solem. The whole album is very relaxing, and can best be described as quiet pop. Should you be a fan of bands such as Crowded House, then give this album as listen, as you won't hear any more from them (I have heard that they have recently split).
