Advantages: Her voice

Disadvantages: None.

First introduced to Florence and her machine by an advert on channel 4, which featured her debut single 'Kiss With A Fist', I wuickly became more acquainted with her as her songs started being played across the radio in response to the hype surrounding her, furthered by the fact that she was the winner of a Brit award.

However, as I quickly became a fan, I had to survive the very very long wait for her album, released in July. Opening with 'Dog Days Are Over', the song sets the album up to be full of majestic, soulful melodies as Florence's amazingly strong vocals are showcased to their max. The genre of this album could be described as pop, but really it transcends these kind of labels as this music really is in a class of its own. 'Drumming Song' is so powerful it almost brings tears to the eyes and will lift you in a way only such powerful music can. Cited as her own personal favourite, 'Cosmic Love' is also a high point on the album, as is 'Hurricane Drunk'. Channeling the 80s, there is a cover of Candie Statton's 'You've got the Love', which I feel could have been left off the album and reserved as a live treat, but overall this album is by far the best of the year so far.

Bravo Florence!

Summary: A fantastic talent, a fantastic album
