Advantages: Great diversity, Excellent vocals and lyrics, Long - 15 track album

Disadvantages: There isn't one big enough to stand out

I kinda thought that I might like Pink's music when 'You Make Me Sick' was released, but to be perfectly honest, it wasn't enough to push me to go and buy it. I'm not really into hip-hop or rap as I thought Pink was as an artist. So I was pleasantly surprised when I heard 'Lady Marmalade', on which Pink accompanied Missy Elliot, Mya, Lil Kim and Christina Aguilera. I never knew Pink could sing like that! So then I heard 'Get The Party Started' and found myself dancing. Then 'Don't Let Me Get Me' which stuck in my head. It took until I heard 'Just Like A Pill' to pursuade me to get the album! Duh! I could have had the pleasure of listening to it like, six months earlier!

With her platinum selling debut 'Cant Take Me Home', Pink established herself as one of the biggest, if not the biggest R&B/Pop acts of 2000. This is a status reaffirmed through her new album, 'M!ssundaztood'. It is clear that Pink wants to be a pop star, but to her own image and own standards. This seems to sum up the theme of the album, M!ssundaztood, and is clearly shown in the lyrics of 'Don't Let Me Get Me'.

I'm quite picky, and was really surprised that I didn't need to listen to it 5 times before appreciating it. I loved it straight away, there is so much diversity on it. Feel-good like 'Get The Party Started'; blues ballads - 'Misery' (featuring Aerosmith's Steven Tyler) really tests Pink's voice, which incidently is amazing! Her voice goes so well with Aerosmith's frontman's. 'Missundaztood', the title track is somewhat sing-a-long-y, excellent with a humorous ending, '18-wheeler' don't try to get all feisty and start boyfriend beating when you hear it! 'Catch-22' is certainly weird but so catchy, 'Dear Diary' one of the most autobiographical songs on the album, 'Eventually', kind of a Missy Elliot vs Lauryn
Hill vibe, shows off Pink's talented lyrics, as does 'Respect' and 'Family Portrait'. One of the three on the album written by Pink, 'Lonely Girl' (the others are Get The Party Started and Misery) is another great one on the album, another one with a catchy chorus. Pink has probably released the most 'poppy' tracks on the album, but the album is so strong as a whole, I can't really fault it. My least favourite is 'Goin To California', but I can't think why. My faves are 'Just Like A Pill' and 'Misery'.

I would rate this album very highly, simply because of its amazing diversity and Pink's fantastic vocals. There is not one track that I flick through when listening to it, I love it all.
