Advantages: beautiful songs, very very talented musicians
Disadvantages: pieced together from old material
Some of the songs here are possibly not as well known to many people, but there are some real gems on this album which was Queen's fifteenth and went on to go quadruple platinum in the UK.
The album was released in 1995 four years after the death of lead singer Freddie Mercury, and much of the album was pieced together by the rest of the band after his death. Indeed a lot of criticism is levied at this album as it reuses a lot of previous material and is seen as merely being a tribute to the great Freddie Mercury, but I feel that there are some excellent songs that stand up on their own.
Too much love will kill you is a song written and initially performed by Bryan May, however on this album we hear the true power and range of Freddie's voice in a very poignant and beautiful version of the song. Heaven for everyone and Let me live show the versatility of Queen and are pure Queen in the sense of the amazing vocal harmonies and grandeur.
Many of the songs are very emotionally charged even some more bizarre tracks such as mother love and you don't fool me, this emotion especially heightened if we consider that Freddie was near death when many of his parts were recorded for this album.
This is definitely a worthy buy overall despite the criticisms.
