Made In Heaven is a brilliant album. It is slow and meaningful, there is not a lot of the usual Queen rock. Neverless, it is fitting as a celebration of Freddie and his life. It is very emotional and sad yet each song is individual and brilliant in its own way. Freddie wrote this just before he died, he kept his illness a secret from his fans and struggled into the studio to record this album in the last and most painful stages of his illness. The pain he was in is shown through the style and lyrics of the music. Yet it also conveys, well to me, his thanks for the life he had lived. The album is all about life, with titles such as "I Was Born To Love You" and "Let Me Live". My particular favourites are "Let Me Live", "My Life Has Been Saved", "Too Much Love Will Kill You" and "Mother Love", the song which Freddie wrote, but died before he recorded the last verse so Brian May sung it instead. All the songs on this album are extremely touching and beautiful to listen to. It is a must for any Queen fan, and an appropriate and emotional tribute to the great Freddie Mercury.

- 04/09/01 I really enjoy Queen's music (although most of my collection is from their earlier years) so I'll keep an ear out for this one. |
