When Elton John released the 'Captain Fantastic And The Brown Dirt Cowboy' album in 1975, he was doing much more than fulfil his contractual obligation to DJM Records. He used it to bring down the curtain on the first phase of his career, put together an autobiographical record of his life to that point and started setting the scene for a move on to a new life. He had one more record to produce for DJM before he could leave the label and he did so later that year with the patchy 'Rock Of The Westies'. ...
