Mariah Carey's self-entitled debut was a 1990 release which immediately propelled her into success as amongst the best female vocalists of her time (with her capabilities to get up to a whistle register). She dropped this at the age of 20 and it found co-writing throughout and making an album which mainly does Pop ballads, but also has elements of R&B (which she would go on to associate much more with as her career progressed. 1. "Vision Of Love" The album starts off with her debut single. It is one which is clearly done in the style of the R&B ballads in the late eighties up to the time when this was released, and gets her pulling ... Read the complete review

I finally have it. I finally have it after wanting to get it for years. No, not syphilis. Mariah Carey?s self-titled debut named Mariah Carey. Okay, so my mom used to have it. I have no idea what the hell happened to her copy. Too bad I never stole it from her when I had the chance. This is the stuff pop debuts should be made of. No, not burlap, nylon, and two tin cans connected by a length of string. Solid, powerhouse hits - all which would?ve soared through the charts as singles. Strong vocals (okay, let?s face it - she?s gonna beat the hell out of them in that department) and incredible presence. Though I may be a bit prejudiced because I ... Read the complete review

Mariah Carey first burst onto the airways in 1990 with her debut self entitled album "Mariah Carey". The best selling female performer of the '90s! This debut includes all the Hits including Vision of Love, Someday, Love Takes Time and I don’t wanna cry, all of which made Number 1 in the US! What made me notice Mariah Carey to start of with was the rumour that she had an 8-octave range, which would be truly impressive and is! As she demonstrates on this album and all her other releases! A truly great singer who has been around for years and hopefully many more as she re-invents herself as does Madonna as she’s now ... Read the complete review

Well here I am writing another review on mariah carey but she is a singer who I really like . This album was released in 1990 when nobody had heard of mariah and although the songs on the album did make it in to the charts it was not this album which made her famous. Never the less this album is a good album the music combined with mariahs vocals is great. Below I will tell the songs on the album then a little bit more about them. 1)Vision of love. 2)Theres got to be a way. 3)I dont wanna cry. 4)Someday. 5)Vanishing. 6)All in your mind. 7)Alone in love. 8)You need me. 9)Sent from ... I was never really a Mariah Carey fan to begin with, I used to wonder what all the fuss was about and it wasn't until I heard Vision of Love on the radio a while ago that I decided to go and buy her debut cd years after it had been released. The album is an 11 track, a mix of ballards and dance, and that amazing voice that everone must know by now. Wether you like her or not you can't deny how talented she is. The album begins with Vision of love which was also the debut single, It's my favourite song of hers, a ballard which shows off her incredible voice at it's best. There's got to be away is a more upbeat song, it's not ... Read the complete review
