Advantages: 10-12 Songs that are wasted as B-Sides

Disadvantages: 2 songs that don't match the other songs' standards

The Masterplan is and Oasis album that contains 14 of some of their B-Side tracks. Now, on a B-Side album you'd expect average songs and you'd expect to see a reason as to why these songs never made it onto an album or as a single. But oh no, not Oasis 12 out of these 14 songs are all in my opinion single standards. Liam and Noel could have made an absolute fortune by releasing some of these songs as singles and I have no idea why they didn't. The majority of these B-Sides are better than a lot of their other album and single songs. The songs and my ratings are listed below:

1 - Acquiesce - There is no better way in which Oasis could have started this album. Acquiesce is a very unique song full of genius and i would have gone out and bought this song in a heartbeat had it been released as a single. It is so good and it infuriates me that Oasis didn't make this song more famous. Quality. 9.5/10

2 - Underneath The Sky - The lyrics, the music, the vocals. Everything about this song is so right, the best song on the album and really should have been used by Oasis more effectively. So good. 10/10

3 - Talk Tonight - This song brings you a bit down to earth after underneath the sky. A very slow song that always seems to keep me yawning. Idler's Dream would have been a much better choice to put in this album instead of this song (had it been made sooner). 6/10

4 - Going Nowhere - Well above average again for a B-Side. Pretty original song executed nicely and not a bad song at all. 7/10

5 - Fade Away - A very loud and bangy song that you do have to be in the mood for. A very good song and yet again it is wasted as a B-Side. 8/10

6 - Swamp Song - The second of two pretty average songs on this album. Never been a personal favorite of mine and it could/should be replace by Carry Us All instead (had it been around at the time the album was made). 5.5/10

7 - I Am The Walrus (live) - The Beatles, anybody who tried to copy one of their songs you'd think was crazy but not Oasis. They execute this song brilliantly. If anything, i think they did it better than The Beatles, a fantastic performance and i'd love them to do a studio version of this. 8.5/10

8 - Listen Up - A bit more of an average song but still not bad at all, especially for a B-Side. (You've Got The) Heart Of A Star would be a better song choice to put on the album instead (had it been released before the album was made of course).

9 - Rockin' Chair - Sheer quality and genius from the Gallagher's once again, this song is just so good and is another song that is wasted as a B-Side. 9/10

10 - Half The World Away - A very slow moving song with some great lyrics. Rightly used as the theme music to the Royal Family and yet again this song is wasted as a B-Side.

11 - (It's Good) To Be Free - I love the lyrics in this song, another song you have to be in the mood for but once your familiar with it, it's a classic. 8/10

12 - Stay Young - This song is too good. It's that good that in some ways it's made it less good. I just don't know. The lyrics in this song are as good as you'll ever hear. Outstanding. 10/10

13 - Headshrinker - Very noisy and loud song, one that i didn't take to straight away but over time it's another Oasis song that i've come to love. 8/10

14 - The Masterplan - The best possible way to end an album like this, The Masterplan is a song that everybody i speak to seems to like. It's so gentle with some brilliant lyrics. The only negatives is you have to wait 50 secs for the song to get going. 9.5/10

Summary: A total waste to have these songs tuck as B-Sides
