Advantages: HALF THE WORLD AWAY
Disadvantages: SOME SONGS NEED MORE ENERGY
MASTERPLAN is the title of indie rock, Manchester band Oasis' album.
Brothers Liam and Noel Gallagher provide the vocals with the album consisting of 14 tracks.
The opening song ACQUIESCE is a good way to start with the guitar sounding great instantly and the vocals bringing energy to the song.
UNDERNEATH THE SKY is a slower track which oozes a smoothness within the band's music that you rarely hear.
TALK TONIGHT has a fantastic chorus that is built up to and when the backing music emerges sounds wonderful.
GOING NOWHERE features some cracking lyrics that tell a great story which although negative are sung with great passion.
FADE AWAY is another track which starts slow and builds pace. The instruments are on fine form and the vocals sound great.
SWAMP SONG i wasn't so keen on with the emphasising been on the vocals as the instruments lacked the energy of previous songs.
I AM THE WALRUS is a live song of the Beatles classic. Oasis and The Beatles have been compared many times and it's obvious that Oasis are inspired by the famous four. A good cover song.
LISTEN UP has a good singalong chorus with the vocals sounding near perfect.
ROCKIN' CHAIR is a track that has your toes tapping and actually feels like you're rocking when you'r elistening to it due to the fast pace.
My favourite song on the album is HALF THE WORLD AWAY. This is the theme to hit comedy THE ROYLE FAMILY and is a great slow number. Noel's vocals are fantastic with the lyrics about wanting to go away somwhere even better.
IT'S GOOD TO BE FREE and STAY YOUNG are two solid tracks though felt like album filler even though you could listen to them more than once.
HEADSHRINKER is a song that grew on me after hearing it a few times. The chorus gets stuck in your head and the guitar is good.
The album finishes with MASTERPLAN a solid way to conclude with strong vocals supported wonderfully by the instruments and a great chorus with superb lyrics.
Overall, this is an album that oozes class. The instruments are sounding great while the vocals stand out with the two rangin styles of Noel and Liam. The lyrics are impressive as each song tells a story.
One negative is that some songs needed mmore energy though that's only a minor fault.
