Jack Penate is part of the myspace, bebo, youtube phenomena that has catapulted other artists to chart success. From south London this is his debut album and it is a pretty good effort. There are eleven tracks on teh album and some good variety of musical styles is displayed. Track Listing 1) Spit At Stars 2) Got My Favourite... 3) Have I Been A Fool 4) Torn On The Platform 5) Learning Lines 6) Run For Your Life 7) We Will Be Here 8) Made Of Codes 9) My Yvonne 10) Second Minute Or Hour 11) When We Die Torn on the Platform is the main single released from the ... 'Spit' 'Mars' You probably don't hear those words often in the same sentence. Jack Penate is as original as this throughout. His style is indie/alternative with a slight difference, a slightly fast paced rhythm with a strong emphasis on the beat. Don't expect any blinding guitar solos. Here is the song list: 1. Spit At Stars 2. Got My Favourite 3. Have I Been A Fool? 4. Torn On The Platform 5. Learning Lines 6. Run For Your Life 7. We Will Be Here 8. Made Of Codes 9. My Yvonne 10. Second, Minute Or Hour 11. When We Die Spit at Stars is ... Read the complete review

My mate Chris has a lot to thank Jack Penate for, to be honest Chris is unlikely to know about Mr Penate existence as his musical tastes do not stretch much beyond Tamla Motown and the Beatles, rather the gratitude should stem from the fact that Penate has made acceptable the way Chris dances. If you have seen Penate live on stage you will know that he dances in a weird manic fashion from the waist down, a sort of Shakin Stevens on speed, well my mate Chris has the same dance and now thanks to Jack it has a certain amount of kudos to it, I call it the crazy chicken legs dance, not sure it will ever rival the twist but it will have it’s moment as will Mr Penate whose ... Jack Penate is not an artist (I suppose the review could finish here!), that I was familiar with until I began reviewing the latest albums by each act taking part in Glastonbury act, ignorance was bliss though, I don't think I was missing much. His singing style is something that I find pretty tedious, often monosyllabic and generally quite tedious in that many of the lyrics are repeated a great deal - a strong example of this is on the track "When We Die" which really has you wishing he would! There are vague hints of reggae and ska styles that come through but it's so wishy washy that it doesn't really add much to the mix, the drummer ... Read the complete review

Matineewas the debut album from Jack Penate who was one of the MySpace generation of popstars who enjoyed success thanks initially to the buzz on the social networking sites. Penate has a fresh interesting musical sound and he produces some very catchy songs, this album is a bit of a mixture with some great songs but unfortunately it also has a few fillers which let it down. There is a lack of consistency about the album which is a shame. His musical style is quite basic, sort of rock and roll jiving sounds and a few slower ballads, he has a London accent, not cockney but definately southern in nasal tone. The best songs for me are the ... Read the complete review

Should please fans of the early Swedish death bands.
At times, sounds like a cheap imitation.

Still an imitation at its core.

A strong collection of songs in an energetic performance.
Punk songs aren't as well represented, and are rushed through.
New World Disorder - Biohazard
Plenty of breakdowns for hardcore mosh fans.
Dull, monotonous and lacking in energy.
