Advantages: Distinct voice, and some worthy tunes

Disadvantages: Some tracks don't even register without concentration

A work colleague gave me the heads up on this album, and on first listening I wasn't sure whether she had fed me a duffer! But on further listening Jack began to win me round. It all starts off a little too lightweight for me, and I felt there was little substance behind what I was listening to. 'Nice' that was the word I was looking for!
But as mentioned Mr Penate began to win me round, He has quite a distinct voice and I found myself coming back to 'We will be here' over and over, a track that has a light and wistful beauty. This forced me to listen again. 'Have I been a fool' was the song I had heard most played previous to owning the album, and I must admit to finding this a little annoying from time to time, but gradually tracks like 'Torn on the platform', and 'Spit at Stars' began to win me round, and now if I'm looking for a little light relief this album can often find its way onto the CD player.
It'll be interesting to see where Jack Penate goes from here he definitely has promise, but I think he needs more consistency, as some tracks barely register on the senses without concentration, but he could definitely be someone to look out for in the future!

Summary: A little more consistency and he could be a big star
