... and some pounding drums, but it is followed by a song which tries, and fails, to copy it. Bruises by Unloco is just a plain ugly song, with lyrics such as "let me see your bruises". Nice. Calm Like A Bomb by Rage Against The Machine is the only song I remembered from the closing credits, so it obviously had an effect on me, and it's really quite good. After this mini rock section, there come a few trance numbers. Dread Rock by Oakenfold is very catchy, its bleeps will keep going round in your head, but it ...more

Premium Review Matrix: Reloaded - Soundtrack: Neo-ly a very good album (1087 words)

Despite all the criticism given to The Matrix Reloaded, I was a big fan, and I bought the DVD and the soundtrack. However, after recently having another listen to the album, it isn't as good as I remembered it to be. Ok, so it has some decent dance tunes, and the second CD is very good, but there are a fair few duff tracks. The first CD contains the music either from the credits or "inspired" by the film. Some might say it has a range of styles, but really, there's just rock (P.O.D.), dance (Oakenfold), or a mixture of both (Rob Zombie). It gets off to a good start with Session by Linkin Park. Although I'm not normally a fan, I found this ...  Read the complete review

So you liked the fight between Neo and Seraph? Just in case you want to hover around in your own living-room and want to fight your neighbours..., this is the soundtrack you should listen to first - and yes, on cd #2 you get some movie scenes in order to visualize the beats you need to perform. just pop it into you computer and watch it... This cd will appeal to fans of the matrix but casual listeners not hot on movie scores may want to think twice about this one - if you don't feel the matrix your ears might get a little stressed. Thrash Metal - Blood Tsunami
Straightforward and accessible with enjoyable riffs and solos Somewhat generic

Ten - Blitzkrieg
The band comfortably integrates into the nineties. Later songs sound similar.

Seventeen Seconds - The Cure
A couple of the songs don't stink... um... Robert Smith was trying to be clever in his sparse instrumental arrangements and it back-fired!

Sex Reflex - Bile
May have made Krztoff some more money. Alienates more serious fans.

Sacrifice - Black Widow
Early occult prog, with a fun gimmick if nothing else. Some experiments are less successful than others, particularly the chanting to Satan.

Insect Song - Beyond The Embrace
Improved vocal style, and less exclusively derivative of melodeath bands. Songs lack the variety and energy of the previous album.

Faith - The Cure
The Cure's strongest set of songs when released, great arrangements for the most part Primary and Doubt, while not bad songs, stick out artistically

Demonic Electronic - Bile
The return of the darkness and evil. Not as varied as previous works.

Copy Machine - Bile
You may know the original songs... ...but these covers are nothing special.

Bestial - Black Cobra
Highly talented sludge doom from a two-man-band. Later songs make strange use of silence, which only gets in the way, but can presumably be skipped.
