Advantages: Exciting, Upbeat

Disadvantages: Slightly Repetitve for a compilation

I thought the film 'The Matrix' was the best film of 1999. It mixed great fight scenes with thought-provoking philosophy.

The Soundtrack album is great and definitely well suited to the film. It is a mixture of music from the film and music inspired by it. Some of the tracks are fast dance music (2 Spybreak!, 5 PrimeAudio Soup), some are calmer (4 Clubbed to death), and some just sound angry (1 Rock is Dead, 12 Du Hast).
It is just over an hour long with 13 tracks:

1. Marilyn Manson ‘Rock is Dead’ – This track, as with much of Manson’s work, sounds heavy and the lyrics are angry.

2. Propellerheads ‘Spybreak!’ – This track accompanies some of the fight scenes. It is very much dance music and is quite repetitive as it has no vocals.

3. Ministry ‘Bad Blood’ – Bad Blood sounds stranger than the first two with its screechy start and loud bass.

4. Rob D ‘Clubbed to Death’ – This track is slower and calmer than most of the others. It accompanies a scene near the beginning of the film. It is the longest track on the CD.

5. Meat Beat Manifesto ‘Prime Audio Soup’ – This track accompanies an exciting scene in the middle of the film and some fight scenes. It is exciting and upbeat. The lyrics (not on the film version) are actually more repetitive than the music!

6. Lunatic Calm ‘Leave You Far Behind’ – This is another fight scene track. It is fast and is one of my favourite on the album.

7. Prodigy ‘Mindfields’ – This track starts slow but speeds up. It has fast vocals as with some other Prodigy songs.

8. Rob Zombie ‘Dragula’ – This track has a lot of bass and features on the film at exciting points. This is another of my favourites.

9. Deftones ‘My Own Summer’ – My Own Summer is slow but not calm as s
ome others. It has loud bass and is more ‘normal’ has it has ‘proper’ lyrics.

10. Hive ‘Ultrasonic sound’ – This song is calmer and quite repetitive.

11. Monster Magnet ‘Look to Your Orb for the Warning – This is another ‘normal’ song with louder music in-dispersed between the verses.

12. Rammstein ‘Du Hast’ – Du Hast (you have) has deep German lyrics and variates between deep bass music and higher fast techno.

13. Rage Against The Machine ‘Wake Up’ – This track is used in the ‘it has only just begun’ scene at the end. It has ‘angry’ lyrics similar to track 1.

I checked and Du Hass is 'you hate'.
They are similar though.

I'm not sure but I thought "Du hast" meant you hate, though I was told this by a very young student of german, having no idea myself. Good op Cheers Sy
