Rating:
The eighties was a great time for music, some truly memorable artists were born, I cite Duran Duran and Dire Straits to name but two. This album gather some of the extended remixes from the decade and spreads them over three discs. Speaking of Duran Duran, their amazing 'Girls On Film' is here in the entirety. It is a perfect capsule of the decade, with the flashing camera effects helping paint a picture of the whole fame game at the time. Dragonslayer - Dream Evil
Tribute to classic metal, with appropriate modern power metal influence. Incredibly catchy.
Cheesy.
Dream Evil - Dio
A last chance for 1980s Dio.
Less impressive than earlier albums.
Enter Suicidal Angels - Dark Tranquillity
Death Metal - 1996
Enthrone Darkness Triumphant - Dimmu Borgir
fast, melodic, varied
lost is the old sound, the mid tempo melancholy
Evilized - Dream Evil
Very little stands out.
A few good riffs here and there, and the style doesn't wear thin until the second track.
Existence - Dark Suns
Distinctive and impressive modern prog.
Lacks excitement as the album plods on.
Expanding Senses - Darkane
Interesting take on the thrash/death mix.
Style becomes repetitive.
Exposures: In Retrospect And In Denial - Dark Tranquillity
Excellent live performance, great chance to hear rare songs.
B-side material is mostly (and inevitably) forgettable.
Fairytales And Reality - Dionysus
Getting there.
Still in the shadow of other bands.
Embrace Of Memory - Darkestrah
Some catchy, traditional black metal.
Later songs sound too similar, and less interesting.
