This is the first Beck album I ever bought, and after seeing what he released in to the charts subesquent to this album, it was the last. He seemed to change his style radically after this to one which was my less to my taste. The style on this album is very hard to describe, there is nothing like it out there. 1. Loser 2. ...  Read the complete review

This is a great album. The humour running throughout is indicative of Beck - he just doesn't seem to give a damn about musical values, he just wants to make some noise. Although a lot of the 'tunes' would have most people on the floor clutching at their ears, the ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Mellow Gold - Beck: Freak or Unique? Both, actually. (238 words)
by - written on 14/07/00 (Useful, 25 readings)
Rating:

This early Beck effort is funny, original, subversive, and quite possibly not your cup of tea if you've become a fan through Midnite Vultures. It's got some absolute belters on it - Loser and Beercan springing instantly to mind - but the majority of the tracks are slow-paced, weird-noise-filled acoustic guitar oddities, notable more for ...  Read the complete review
