Advantages: MEN'S NEEDS
Disadvantages: ANCIENT HISTORY
MEN'S NEEDS WOMEN'S NEEDS is the title of British indie rock band CRIBS album.
The album features 12 tracks which I will review.
The opening track OUR BOVINE PUBLIC is a powerful song with a fantastic intro electrified into action by the guitar work and lead singer Ryan Jarman's strong vocals.
GIRLS LIKE MYSTERY contains great vocals aided by terrific instrumental support that brings the music to life especially at the chorus.
My favourite song on the album is MEN'S NEEDS. This has a great intro that leads in to the powerful vocal. The melodies are fast paced and support the lyrics that are fantastic at the chorus where the song electrifies.
MOVING PICTURES is a more mellow track with fantastic lyrics that tell a great story supported by some smooth vocals.
I'M A REALIST is such a thoughtful track in the lyrical department that you don't even need the music as the words say it all.
MAJOR'S TITLING VICTORY grew on me after hearing it a few times as it has a strong chorus aided by some soothing melodies which have an uplifting effect.
WOMEN'S NEEDS has a similiar sound to MAN'S NEEDS so is a clever twist with the lyrics explaining what a woman wants to feel.
I'VE TRIED EVERYTHING is a very reflective song that is mellow in it's sound and has some calming melodies.
MY LIFE FLASHED BEFORE MY EYES is full of energy and has an uplifting effect particularly when the great guitar work kicks in combined with the drums.
BE SAFE has a positive message even if the music lacks the energy of previous tracks.
ANCIENT HISTORY i wasn't so keen on as it felt like album filler.
The last song on the album SHOOT THE POETS showcases the band's talents with excellent vocals, superb lyrics, wonderful instrumental support and a smooth rhythm accompanied by smoother melodies.
Overall, this is a really good album. The songs are energetic and the instruments produce a wonderful sound. The lyrics constantly tell good stories while the vocals from Jarman are unique and strong. There isn't much filler either.
Avaliable from AMAZON at £4.98, the CRIBS produce a album worth listening to.
Summary: CRIBS, NONE WHATSOEVER
