(N.B, I apologise for not being able to write James Hetfield's "yeah.") Metallica's most well-known, and widely-considered finest, album was released in 1991, and received a phenomenal number one slot both in the US and the UK. The band had broken new ground for mainstream metal, and the first single, "Enter Sandman," remains one of the most popular alternative songs to this day. Being a huge fan of Metallica's music, I find that this album (unofficially designated as "The Black Album" due to its almost completely black cover which is present, according to Mr. Hetfield, so the listener "is not distracted ... There has long been a debate over which Metallica album represents the American quartet at their most inspired and technically sophisticated, but there is little doubt that their self-titled fourth album brought their brand of heavy metal music firmly into the limelight. Commonly referred to as The Black Album by both the band and their fans, this epic release saw a radical change from their thrash metal roots but was still met with almost unanimous appraisal by metal fans. Twelve solid, rigorously executed tracks represent the last time the band could firmly be described as the greatest rock band on the planet. ... Read the complete review

Metallica's self-titled album, best known by fans as The Black Album, was released in 1991 and is without a doubt the best known and most acclaimed Metallica album of all. It's full of the band's signature songs, such as Sad But True and Enter Sandman, and is a stamp of their enduring legacy, even with some of their not so amazing efforts recently such as St. Anger (which I still enjoyed, unlike most people!) Enter Sandman is probably my favourite track on the album - it starts off calmy and then gets more and more frenzied, before the band just go crazy and sing about the evils trying to get you in your dreams. It has a very memorable video aswell, which ... Read the complete review

The self titled album 'Metallica', dubbed 'the Black' album by fans for its almost completely black album art is the fifth studio album from heavy metal/ thrash giants Metallica. The album itself has sold over 15 million copies in the US alone and has released 6 singles. Many fans consider this to be the end of Metallica reign as thrash metal kings and instead some see them as sell outs because this fifth album is more listener friendly and appealed to the media a lot more than the others which Metallica had originally stayed away from. I think this is just people who do not appreciate Metallica's talent and the fact that they don't go with the flow which is one reason ... Read the complete review

==Metallica: The Black Album== So I was with my cousin Sam last month(I don't get to see him often) and I realised everytime he comes I start listening to Metallica again and I continue listening to them until about 7 weeks after I seen him. So I decided to listen to this album this time, Its originally called Metallica but otherwise known as The Black Album...I don't know which one I like better. This is one of the heavier albums...but it is indeed amazing Metallica formed in 1981...a good 8 years before I was born, they are a heavy metal band from LA and practically everybody loves them! Except my mom...but she is weird. ... Read the complete review
