Advantages: great riffs
Disadvantages: one song that has begun to get on my nerves
==Metallica: The Black Album==
So I was with my cousin Sam last month(I don't get to see him often) and I realised everytime he comes I start listening to Metallica again and I continue listening to them until about 7 weeks after I seen him.
So I decided to listen to this album this time, Its originally called Metallica but otherwise known as The Black Album...I don't know which one I like better.
This is one of the heavier albums...but it is indeed amazing
Metallica formed in 1981...a good 8 years before I was born, they are a heavy metal band from LA and practically everybody loves them! Except my mom...but she is weird.
===Band Members===
James Hetfield- Rhyhtm guitar and Lead Vocals
Kirk Hammet- Lead guitar
Lars Ulrich- Drums
Jason Newsted- Bass
===Tracks===
Enter Sandman 5/5
This is probably the bands most popular song, everyone I know has heard it at some point. It is always played on music channels (MTV2/Kerrang!/Scuzz) and it is starting to get on my nerves a little, the song is being overplayed so I am starting to get bored of it, and so are other people. The track has a good rhythm and bass line which is so simple to play on guitar its almost boring to play now.
Sad But True 5/5
I love this track, I swear when I first heard it all I wanted to was jump around on a serious hype...but I was listening to on my ipod in school, I didn't realise it was on there and I had never heard it before...but when I heard the drums and the guitar and the bass with the amazing vocals i just had to sit there tapping my fingers...when really I wanted t run around. Bass line is friggin immense on this track, one im going to look into learning in the near future.
Holier Than Thou 5/5
Simply amazing! I can never get over how much I love this band. The track has a simple rhythm to begin with which is just repeated for about 30 seconds then it changes and vocals come in...James has one hell of a voice, That's easy to tell from just listening to this track alone. I love the riff about three minuets in...one of the best I have heard. Then there comes the bass line, simple but effective. I really do love this track.
The Unforgiven 5/5
This is the first of three unforgivens...all are totally amazing, I love this one more simply because I heard It before the others and find it would be a lot better if they didn't make 2 others after it, it has a great rhythm and a light beat which really sinks into your head and grabs your full attention.
Wherever I May Roam 5/5
This is a great track, very catchy start, and even catchier when the drums start up. When the vocals begun I sort of focused all my attention on his voice and then had to go back and listen to the track again because I paid no attention to the guitarring and what not. The bass line is immense, Jason used a 12 string bass for this one.
Don't Tread On Me 5/5
Great bass line and some funky guitarring at the beginning. James' voice is brilliant in this track and the lyrics are awesome. I love the chorus, its funky, this track is heavy but light...it has a heavy bass line and drumming but the rhythm and vocals are kind of light. 02:36 an immense and I mean immense rhythm begins and I was blown away...its just amazing... I wish I could play guitar like that, I look up to this band a lot and I know plenty of other people that do too.
Through The Never 5/5
I remember discussing this track with my cousin...but I cant remember what I said haha(im so helpful) I know we played this one a good few times at my brothers 18th...only because this song rocks and we were 'DJing' so let us loose on sorting out the music you get aload of metal to blow your ears off. The rhythm and beat of this track are my favourite...this is a great track to start a mosh pit with. 02:16 comes the riff and you can really tell that this band are talented to the max.
Nothing Else Matters 5/5
One of my favourite tracks ever by this band, it has a great acoustic plucking through out the track and a two great rhythms in there too. There isn't much I can say about this track because it just knocks all thoughts from my head, if you listen to It you should know what I mean. James has a beautiful voice in this track and his talent really shines.
Of Wolf And Man 5/5
I find this an intruiging song...I like this version better than the S&M one...Rhythm is amazing as are vocals, the tune is one that got stuck in my head and I went around school humming it for weeks..
The God That Failed 5/5
I love the bass line at the beginning, it just really sets the song of nicely, this is an example of the heaviness this band creates. The beat is consistant and stable which makes the track one of the best on the album. A perfect riff that never ceases to amaze me.
My Friend Of Misery 5/5
The track starts off good with a great bass line and percussions, ts slowly builds up to something amazing for when the vocals come in, I like the lyrics I think they are great and James' voice makes me listen to the song In awe.
The Struggle Within 5/5
I only just noticed I have given every track 5/5 haha...just proved dad that this is one of the best albums they have done. This track starts off with like a marching beat and then in comes the guitar...funky type of riff, that then slows down and it picks up again and so does the tempo, another track where you can just picture a massive mosh pit. It is a great track, one you think you aren't keen on but it turns out you listen to this track more than you expected you would. 02:27 an awesome riff that will melt your brain I have to say
A great album, deffinatley worth buying...and listening too...again...again...and again, this is an album I don't think im going to get bored of anytime soon...its just a shame about Enter Sandman
