Advantages: Full on Metal

Disadvantages: None

This album sent Metallica’s popularity into the stratosphere. Released in 1991 (same year as Nirvana’s ‘Nevermind’), it was the record that brought the mainstream music industry to Metallica (not the other way around). They sound darker and more immense than ever, with every member of the band pulling out all the stops.

The songs are all there (especially ‘Enter Sandman’, ‘The Unforgiven’ and ‘Sad But True’) and it is the sound of four of the best musicians in metal at their creative best.

One of the metal albums ever.
