The Complete Anthology of The Germs is a decent punk album from LA punk outfit The Germs. I have a tendency to favour US proto punk or UK punk over US bands particularly ones outside of New York. The Germs are a decent band though and come across as a snarling version of the Ramones. Playing fast and heavy, critical aspects of the album include poor production, the repetitive guitar riffs and the "dad's gone mad in the kitchen with the spoons and pans" style of drumming but there's more to the band than that. Troubled vocalist Darby was a vocal chap and wrote decent lyrics which were then snarled out in a sneery way, to add to the confusion he also ... Read the complete review
