The band was supposed "to put punk into perspective" though the vocalist mentioned numerous times to fellow band member Pat Smear that he wanted to earn money with the band to buy heroin and overdose, a feat which he achieved but went largely unnoticed due to John Lennon's assasination the next day. The Complete Anthology of The Germs is a decent punk album from LA punk outfit The Germs. I have a tendency to favour US proto punk or UK punk over US bands particularly ones outside of New York. The Germs are a decent band though and come across as a snarling version of the Ramones. Playing fast and heavy, critical aspects of the album include poor production, the repetitive guitar riffs and the "dad's gone mad in the kitchen with the spoons and pans" style of drumming but there's more to the band than that.
