Advantages: pure funk , even more funk than that, but chilled at times so you dont get an overload from dacing
Disadvantages: if you dont like high piercing voices on men then you may not be fond of this
many people try to define beck ito certain genre's but he changes from album to album and from song to song. This is what i see as the whole appeal of beck as he's not afraid to try anything. if you listen to mutations you would think that he was a relaxed country guitarist. if you listen to mellow gold you could think he's a rapper at times. both of these are great albums but on midnite vultures and odelay he doe swhat i think is his best work. the songs are funky, rocky, mellow and all ooze brilliance they are all brilliantly original and overall midnite vultures is just a great album overall with becks amazing vocals and the wide range of instruments used and experimented with on this album just produce an amazing sound when sung over in any pitch imaginable by beck with his ridiculously huge vocal range cannot be a bad thing attall in fact its quite the opposite. 1. sexx laws (3:40) what a way to start an album the trumpet opening just sets you up for the whole album the chorus backed by some funky backing music and banjo playing sticks in your head as soon as you hear it. if you arent familier with the different pitches beck can sing at then this song should give you some idea. class. 2. nicotene and gravy (5:12) a bit of a calm down song after you've just had a little dance to sexx laws this chilled out song is the other side of beck instead of the brass section and all the other instruments this is a basic song but a brilliantly chilled out song. 3. mixed bizness (4:10) and here we go again with beck waving his funky wand i guarentee that u cannot stay still while listening to this song if u can GO AND SEE A DOCTOR!!! NOW!!! need i say more? 4. get real paid (4:20) becks electronica side comes out in this song with a funk filled chorus not the best song on the album but still good 5. hollywood freaks (3:59) beck decides to rap o
n this track but boy is it good the choruses are rapped like a gangster but when it come to the chorus that he sings not a funk filled song but good to chill to. 6.peaches and cream (4:54) oh yes no we're talking beck uses his powers to the full on this masterpiece chilled and funky he uses the high end of his voice and does it well with slide guitar all through and a break in the middle building up to a ambiant ending with a choir and organ playing pure brilliance. 7.broken train (4:11) broken train is good but not brilliant as it doesnt really go anywhere but where it stays is a good place its just chilled beck like always with a slightly funkyier chorus. 8.milk and honey (5:19) i love this song sooo much featuring guitar from johnny marr its just sooo amazing its rock funk at its very best with a ripping chorus and 5 minutes of it. Bliss. 9. beautiful way (5:43) a bit of a slower romantic song here but still very good just turn the lights down low and relax on your sofa and this is the song you should put on. a soothing and relaxing vocal performance just makes this song what it is a masterpiece. 10. pressure zone (3:06) oh how good is this song. but why is it only three mins long that is a crime. Its a pure beck full on funk rock performance with a simple but effective riff and brilliant drumming topped yet again by becks voice can this man do no wrong. 11. debra (13:46) dont worry the song isnt 13 mins long but if it was i wouldnt complain its soo good beck peircing high voice used brilliantly and this has got to be the best way to finish an album like this a smooth chilled out mellow ballad ish track featuring soft backing music all the way through the song apart from the orchestra during the chorus. i loove this song i love this album. <
