Advantages: Good album for a less well known group

Disadvantages: you need to like this style of music or you may hate it

Firstly the reason that I wrote this was because of an op by someone saying that we should try listening to some of the smaller less well known groups. Milk Inc or rather ?Milk Incorporated? are a Belgian group though we may not hear much from them in the UK they are quite well known on the continent.
Everyone will know doubt know the recent hit from Ian Van Dahl ? Castle?s in the sky. This is along the same lines of music that Milk Inc produce. Classed as Dance music but not quite up to this countries standards this mainly being because the style that goes down well on the continent differs slightly from the UK. Saying that though I can easily imagine some of the tracks from the album Double Cream doing well over here with a few slight changes. This can also show some of that abstract continental humour with them being called Milk Inc, this album is Double Cream and remixes classed as UHT remix. To me it all sounds a bit daft and that may be another thing that could hold them back from making any true chart impact over here.

"La Vache", as the tune was entitled, became a huge hit in France, selling over 300,000 copies and was represented on more than 3,000,000 sold compilation albums. So they must be doing something right over there. However though as are mainly working over in the continent there is only little information regarding this group over here and their official website is only written in Dutch so I cannot find any extra info about them from there. So I?ll get straight into their album track listing with some final comments.

Tracks

1 Never Again (single mix)

This is a faster high paced tune with a light but bouncy feel to it. The female vocals fit this tune just fine and it sounds as it is that this one would do ok over here. Not a bad tune at all if you like dance music and you could easily find yourself with your foot tapping away to this one or singing along to it. One of the beast.

2 Land of
The Living (radio edit)

This is another good tune not too fast or hard paced and sou8nds quite alike the recent Fragma releases. Quite a good song that is enjoyable and I would surmise that this would do quite well on the club scene.

3 Walk on Water (H20 radio mix)

This is another hyperactive feeling tune that is fast and high paced. This is a good tune but could do with a bit remixing done to make it a great tune as it could be. This still has a fast dance feel to it that almost makes you feel like dancing to it.

4 Don?t Cry

This is a bit slower paced and is more like a pop tune that you would hear in the UK chart with a lot of the music coming from guitar strums, it has a bit of a sort of chillout relaxing feel to this one, could just have been that bit better if the vocals were just that tone softer to make this a truly great tune.

5 Livin a Lie (video edit)

We go back to the faster paced dance tune with this track. Not like the hardcore feel of Operation blade but the lighter bouncier track that almost lifts your spirit. Easy to imagine this one being played in pubs and clubs at the weekend with the place jumping. Must admit I like this one.

6 For No Reason

this is another slower song with some of the tune coming from what sounds similar to the wooden xylaphone. Slow and a bit moody but this is just as good as anything that I have heard in the UK charts recently. Strange how bigger names and groups can make a fortune worldwide while groups like this can remain relatively unknown here but they put out work like this pop tune that is good.

7 Sweet surrender

This is the first track to feature any male vocals. It is sung in a pop style with a faster paced dance tune. It is not too bad either doubt this would be any top ten hit but with the way it stands it would probably do ok. Nice tune to it and personally female vocals would have been a bit better but there is noth
ing truly bad about this track or any so far.

8 Time has Stood Still

Starts off with a bit of a techno tune with a guitar playing a slower more mournful tune alongside. After a bit it does get a bit faster and a bit more high paced but the singing is still slower in this track so it does sound like the music is competing against the singer. Still it has quite a nice tune and would be miles better with a bit remixing. Sounds like something that Sash may produce.

9 Midnight In Africa

Starts off with a heavy bass thumping feel but quickly changes to a trance style track. Has the slower repetitive techno beats that come with all trance tracks and normally I hate this style of music but found this one more than tolerable. Along the lines of a Jean Michael Jarre style of tune or similar to War of the Worlds. That will give you a vague idea what this is like.

10 Losing Love

Back to a mix of what I would say is techno and pop. The song has the electronic beats and feel of a techno track but the singing is again more like what you would hear in a normal pop song. This song has it?s moments but on the whole it fells a bit mixed up like it?s not quite sure what it wants to be, still saying that it is still an ok track to listen to.

11 La Vache (Regg and Arkin radio edit)

you will; recognise some of this tune because this gets played on tv on shows as backing music at times. You would recognise it all but when hearing it you will know that you have heard snippets of this one somewhere before. Instrumental track that is ok but does not hold anything special for me.

12 In My Eyes

Back to the main feel of this album, a dance tune with smooth female vocals going along to it. Personally I thought the vocals outshined the track music in this song. This is a good tune still though maybe not to the grade needed to make it a hit. Do a bit extra work on this one and it would do fine.

13 In
side of Me

A bit faster tune again here with the lyrics generally coming thrown a bit faster at times. Sounds more like a slightly heavier rave style of tune this one though and may well be ok for the underground club scene. Not one that I liked too much myself.

14 Promise

This is a lot better than the last but the tune could still do with a little bit work the vocals seem ok and it is sung like a pop style of tune. The song itself has some great bits to it but the constant changing style of the tune lets it down a little bit, If this was changed to a more standard tune this would do just fine in the UK

15 Saxy-Motion

I recognised this tune from somewhere as well though I cannot say where. It is a slow style chillout track with the slow Saxaphone wailing along in places. The sort of tune you could easy listen to when you are just relaxing and putting your feet up. Good song.

16 Boy meets Girl

This is again more like a upbeat pop song rather than a dance tune. Not one that has anything real special to offer but just by listening to this one if you were to be honest and open you can tell it has potential.

17 Oceans (the UHT radio mix)

The guitar starts this off then changes to a faster high paced dance tune but then relaxes a bit to a nice upbeat pop tune. Very nice vocals make this a sweet melodic sounding track and with that bit of Spanish feeling guitar accompanying it you could imagine two people in love but oceans apart and thinking of each other which is generally what the lyrics are about.

18 Land of the Living

This also has what I would say is a nice dance tune to it. Once again we have the pop style of singing with a faster paced tune and this one is good in fact I would say it was or rather is just as good as any that Fragma has been releasing recently. Avery nice tune that would do well on the dance club scene.

Summary

Well if you like the fa
ster paced dance music or upbeat pop style of songs then this album is worth having. Cost me an extra £4.00 to get HMV to import this one though. It is one of those albums that a lot of the tracks seem to grow on you more and more each time that you listen to them. The most popular UK artist that is close to these is Fragma so if you know her music then you will have an idea of what this album is like. However just because they are not that big over here yet I wouldn?t think that they yet will not start producing more in the UK. I have heard songs like Operation Blade in Clubs years before they hit the charts here so we may still just waiting for this group to make their entrance.

What with a lot of poorer grade songs being released at the moment they may well take off to a good start especially with the teenage market who seem to love this style of music.
