Although I tend to prefer my club music quite banging, it is sometimes useful to have a wind down session. Ministry have managed to carve out something pretty decent here in the form of a three disc chill out album. I wouldn't say it is chill out as in meditative whale music, but the music is a little more laidback and less abrasive than the likes of the Clubland fodder. There are 62 tracks on here in total.

808 State start us off with the trippy 'Pacific State.' The bird noises and dreamy instruments create a really special ambience, you will feel whisked away. The Beloved follow this with a superb track, in which the soft almost spoken vocals will calm any nerves and make you feel quite rested.

Primal Scream manage to merge dance and rock and psychedelic vibes on 'Don't Fight It.' I adore Sneaker Pimps, which has a filthy vocal and a really dark and moody atmosphere. It will make you think of seedy nightclubs and ladies of the night. I tend to avoid Moloko though, which is plodding and tedious, despite a neat vocal from Roisin.

As we hit the second disc, things take on an indie twist with Coldplays touching 'Trouble'. Mylo adds some electro spice with 'Valley Of The Dolls' which sounds glorious at full volume. If you want something a little tougher, then head to Nightmares On Wax, which is sinister and involving.

The third disc turns up some treats in the form of Prydz's 'Pjanoo' which benefits from a less in your face mix, while keeping the essence of the original. Kid Cudi gets a smooth rework from DONS, which keeps the melody lively and with a hint of carnival.

I love Jean Jacques Smoothie's '2 People' which is so sensual, with a female vocal oozing sex appeal over a gentle melody. Also check out the subblime Royksopp which is in a similar vein. The album culminates with the stunning 'Saltwater' from Chicane, which uses the vocal talents of Clannad star Moire Brennan, it is a fitting end to a polished and varied album.
