Advantages: Some tracks are fantastic.

Disadvantages: The album as a whole is largely disappointing. Too many fillers.

Linkin Park have had a great deal of success in their relatively short career so far. Their first taste of success came in late 2000 when they released their 'Hybrid Theory' debut album, an album which to date has sold in excess of 24 million copies worldwide. 'Minutes To Midnight' is the bands latest studio offering and although containing some tracks which are greatly appealing, others quickly become tiresome making the 'Minutes To Midnight' album an extremely inconsistent performer.

'What I've Done' and 'Bleed It Out' I feel provide the album with its finest moments; the latter of which being my absolute favourite track from the 'Minutes To Midnight' album. 'Bleed It Out' contains some fantastic vocals, combining well alongside those that are rapped and really making the track stand out as a definite highlight from the album. The guitars are strong, the drum beats pummel through at all times, and everything about this one just seems to fit together perfectly in order to make for one of the bands most successfully executed tracks to date I feel.

As I said before, the 'Minutes To Midnight' album is extremely inconsistent and when listening to the album you never know whether the next track will be an absolute classic or an epic failure, an ultimate filler track serving no purpose other than to make the album look a little less empty of content. For me the album opens disappointingly with the lacklustre track 'Given Up' and never quite recovers. Showing a transition in sound from Metal to Rock in this one, the track just doesn't seem to work very well at all and I find it really rather tiresome. Linkin Park are definitely trying to reinvent themselves with their 'Minutes To Midnight' album and whilst it works in some tracks, in others their new found style falls flat.

Linkin Park are a huge band and no doubt whatever they release will always sell a large number of copies given their prominence and popularity as one of the biggest Rock bands on the planet. For me however, their 'Minutes To Midnight' album shows too few signs of excellence and contains far too many tracks which are completely innocuous. There are some tracks that are fantastic to listen to and show the band to be brilliant at what they do, but these are too few and far between for my liking and listening to the 'Minutes To Midnight' album can therefore be quite a painful process having to listen to so many tracks of insignificance before reaching anything worthwhile listening to.

Label: Warner Bros
Release Date: 14th May 2007

Summary: The Minutes To Midnight album is worth listening to in part, however is largely lacklustre.

As a Linkin Park fan this album was a dissapointment. The only song I really liked on this album was "What I've done". Great review! :)
