Advantages: great lyrics and vocals, solid and many times exceptional playing performance

Disadvantages: that there are not more albums like this one.

Even though this is one of my favorite albums it's still hard to say much more about this work than has been stated by my predecessors...

I first bought this cd when my wife and i were seperated back in fall 1988. Of course I, like most of America had heard Kayleigh and Lavendar. I really liked both songs, and the first guitar run intro to Kayleigh always brought me back immediately to the feeling of the song.

I used to [honestly] listen to this disk every night after coming home from work before crashing for the night. It will always hold a special place in my heart because I saw so many parallels in my own life.

I can't say enough about Fish's lyrics. He has a unique way of expressing his thoughts and ideas in those lyrics and the way he shows them in his performances. The musical imagery in his work is stronger than most of the music I've heard thus far. Stars rise and fall but I wish that things had continued going the way they seemed to be going for Marillion during their "Fish" period. Of course Mr. Dick [Fish] may be happier out of the arena spotlight - I have no way of knowing, but I feel that if anyone deserves lasting success, he certainly does.

To me, this is the shining point of a band that sounded like they had played together forever.

Anyway, all I can say is that if you have even a passing interest in Marillion, the 80's, progressive rock or overlooked and underated music you need to grab a copy and give it a good listening to. This will always be in my top ten have-to-have albums. It's a perfect match of brilliant lyrics and solid, at times exceptional musicianship.

Summary: Give this a listen and you will not be dissappointed. 4.5 out of 5!
