So many artists and albums have been influenced by illegal drugs, whether it be the Beatles during their ‘Lucy In The Sky of Diamonds’ phase (LSD), Bob Marley (cannabis) or Lolly (a heady cocktail of just about everything going form the sounds of it). During the late 80’s and early 90’s, Ecstasy became the drug of choice for clubbers everywhere, and was synonymous with house music and its various offshoots. However, 2001 saw a new spate of Ecstasy-inspired rap and hip-hop albums from the USA, which added a new dimension to the usual guns and violence themes that had previously ran more prevalently. Perhaps the less subtle conveyor of ... Read the complete review

The gauntlet is thrown down as soon as you press the play button. "I know some of y'all are sick of the songs you hear on the radio," croons Missy Elliott, her voice a warm hug. "So me and Timbaland gonna give ya that sh-- you never heard before." From the start, giving us some unheard sh-- has been the unofficial mantra of Missy Elliott and longtime partner Tim Mosley, a.k.a. Timbaland. Beginning with her stunning debut, 1997's Supa Dupa Fly, Missy and Timbaland have created a groundbreakingly futuristic galaxy of slowed-down drum'n'bass and hip-hop-informed jeep-bangers, highlighted by "The Rain," which interpolated ... The title is relevant. Honestly. Well I am addicted to it, and I am also addicted to this So Addictive CD! Missy Elliott’s music career began on the trash heap. No really, it did. She began singing on the rubbish bins in Portsmouth, VA as a child. Now she is a successful singer/writer/song producers, working with the big names such as Busta Rhymes & Lil’ Kim. Her big break came when she convinced Devante from Jodeci to let her group Sista audition for him. Miss E … So Addictive is Missy Elliott’s 3rd album. This is one rude and sexy cd. Not one to play while there’s young impressionable minds around, but a great one to play ... Read the complete review

Missy "Misdemeanor" Elliot has earned herself the name of "Puff Mommy" in the music industry, because of her writing, singing/rapping, producing, and do-it-all work ethic. Maybe she's trying to juggle too many tasks at once. This album had mad potential, but could have been a lot better. Miss E hits on some tracks, namely track 4, "Lick Shots." The song was featured at the end of the "Get Ur Freak On" video. "Lick Shots" delivers simple lyrics you've heard before ("bling bling all in yo face/I think you might need to put on yo shades"), but over a tight beat. There is something about ... I first heard of this album on a radio station, and they widely recommended it to people. Also the song 'Get YOur Freak On' inspired me a bit, becase I really liked the song. There's a lot of bass in the songs on this album, so if your a person who likes to turn up the bass this is a album to buy. ALso she has a slice of Hip hop in her songs by featuring artists like eve, redman methodman and lots more. It also has a taste of Missy Elliots bad woman attitude. I think that the best songs on album are 'Lick Shots', 'One minute Man', and 'Get Your Freak On'. This is because they're a variety of hip hop and ... Read the complete review
