It was in the mid to late 90's that the 'chill-out' phase really started to hit the british public. It seemed that youngsters were now more interested in laying back and letting retrofied songs wash over them, than being battered into submission with constant 4/4 beats.

French Duo Air arrived at just the right time. With a perfect blend of songwriting nous and gallic cool, they produced an album which outlasted the genre. 'La Femme D'argent' is the epitome of cool, a languid bassline ushering in the synthesised melodies. First single 'Sexy Boy' rides along on a fuzzy bass, whooshing song effects and a winsome melody - It turned out to be one of the biggest chill out hits of all.

'All i Need' is more straightforward, a lovely breathy, feminine melody over the top of a simple guitar riff- And probably the finest moment of Air's career.

There is much to cherish here, and Air struggled to make the same impact as this later in their career - They will, however, always be remembered for making one of the most consistent, effortless albums of the 90's
