'Motion in the Ocean' was the third album released by UK all male group McFly. The thing that seperates McFly from your typical boyband is that not only do they write most of their songs, they also play instruments too. Another brilliant thing about this band is that they have great catchy tunes, with fantastic lyrics and don't have too many dreary ballads that Take That, Westlife and Boyzone are guilty of.

By the time McFly released their third album, their singles were slowly becoming more forgettable with the British public. That's not to say that the songs were poor, far from it - in fact! Their first album 'Room On The Third Floor' had a few annoyingly catchy singles from it (Five colours in her hair, Obviously etc), this album does have a bit of annoyingly catchiness in it but it also have a more level of maturity on it then their previous albums.

Lead single 'Please Please' is a great catchy pop track rumoured to be about Harry Judds alleged relationship with Lindsey Lohan. The song reached number 1 in the UK singles chart but I feel like this is one of the weaker songs on the album. The same can be said for second single 'Star Girl', it's more poppy than 'Please Please' and again reached #1 in the singles chart. However, it feels a bit too forgettable now. How many of you guys can sing along to it? Based on these two singles I wasn't really expecting much from the album but bought it anyway and I have to say I pleasently surprised.

'Please Please' and 'Star Girl' are probably the two weaker songs on the album. The album is a great mix of fun pop tracks and great ballads. Opening track 'We Are The Young' is a feel good pop anthem bursting with guitars and an epic chorus. 'Sorry's Not Good Enough' is typical McFly, it was released as a single which isn't surprising but I feel there are better songs on the album. 'Bubblewrap' is a beautiful piano type ballad. McFly have a habit of putting these 'epic ballads' on each album but never releasing them as singles (see 'She Falls Alseep' from their previous album 'Wonderland'). This could have been a big hit for them if it was released at Xmas and probably would have kept the album sales at a steady flow. 'Transylvania' is another change from them. Originally it was a B-Side to 'Star Girl' but it proved to be such a fan favourite that it was made into a single and reached number 1. The song is also the first song to feature Dougie Poynter on lead vocals (in the chorus). 'Lonely' is a beautiful guitar pop track. Catchy chorus and great verses. 'Little Joanna' is probably my favourite on the album it's a cheeky summery pop track.

'Walk In The Sun' is my least favourite, it's a ballad but it just doesn't do anything for me. 'Friday Night' is another epic anthemic track. 'Home Is Where The Heart With' is a middle-of-the road type of song. The album closes with a cover of 'Don't Stop Me Now' by Queen. Bleugh!

Overall, it's a great album but I don't think the single choices really represented the quality of the album.
