The first two CDs are the best but the third is a nice bonus. The sound quality on this CD, I've noticed, isn't as great as on some other CDs I have. I liked the Motown songs I heard, so when this collection came out I thought it was the ideal opportunity to get loads of good songs on one CD. The first two CDs contain classic Motown songs like I Want You Back (Jackson 5), Baby Love (Supremes) and Heard It Through the Grapevine (Marvin Gaye). The third CD contains covers of different songs, like Stevie Wonder's cover of Light My Fire (which I really like, despite being a Doors fan) and Martha Reeves & The Vandellas' Say A Little Prayer (which doesn't really compare with the Aretha Franklin version). Even though I like listening to Kylie, Take That and the like I do also like what I call, proper music, old time, cool tunes with an even cooler vibe such as Jackson 5, Stevie Wonder, Marvin Gaye etc, etc so when I heard about the new Motown 50 album to celebrate 50 years of Motown I just had to buy it. My husband loves that type of music too so it was a great present for him. Motown has a great history in music. It is the name of a record company founded in Detroit, Michigan in 1959. I never knew this but apparently the name comes from joining the two words, Motor and Town as Detroit is where motor cars are predominately made in the United States.
