Moulin Rouge is the 2001 musical film directed by Baz Luhrman. It tells the tale of Christian, a young writer who has made his way to Paris and fallen in love with the lead performer at the Moulin Rouge, the world famous cabaret act. The soundtrack accompanies the film brilliantly for the most part. It is quite a dark film and thus a ... Read the complete review

Musicals are not for everyone. In fact, many people turn their backs on musicals. I am not one of those people. From oldies like My Fair Lady, The King and I and Calamity Jane to the newer ones, such as Evita, Little Shop of Horrors and most certainly Moulin Rouge. I find myself enthralled as people act out real life on the screen while ... Read the complete review

I loved the film So much so that I went to see it three times at the cinema. Then bought the DVD, and that's getting watched more than enough too. But the soundtrack, if it's possible, is even better. How? Because the music included has the power to take you away from wherever you may be at the moment and send you spinning back ... For those of you confused, this is the latest Moulin Rouge release. It all began last summer when an import version of the Moulin Rouge soundtrack was available in the shops. having loved the film, I managed to wrangle it so that my gran bought the soundtrack as a birthday present for my bloke. How clunning was that. My gran is the sort who delights in going into record shops looking for soemthing 'modern' and I will have to get the video of the film for her... but I digress. "Moulin Rouge" ... To say that I enjoyed Moulin Rouge the movie would be understatement. I was overwhelmed by Baz Luhrmann's amazing style of quick-edged cuts and maddening visuals, as well as his attempt to bring the musical genre back into the mainstream, albeit forcefully. The wonderful setting of Paris in the 1900s with can-can dancers in Montmatre, the ... Read the complete review
